Black Parents Forum (BPF) respects the privacy of families, school representatives, partners and visitors. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, when limited information may be shared, and the choices available to you when you use our website, registration forms, events, newsletters and programs.

Information We Collect

We collect information that you choose to provide and limited information generated when you use our website or services. Depending on how you interact with BPF, this may include:

Contact information, such as your name, email address, mailing address, ZIP code and telephone number.

Event and program registration information, including the sessions or events you select.

Limited student information provided by a parent or guardian, such as a student's name, current or entry grade, school interests and other information relevant to admissions planning.

School representative information, including the representative's name, title, work contact information, school affiliation and program participation details.

Communications you send to BPF, including questions, survey responses and requests for assistance.

Payment and transaction details. Payments are processed by third-party payment providers; BPF does not intentionally collect or store complete payment-card numbers.

Photographs, video or audio captured at BPF events when event notices, registration terms or releases permit such recording.

Basic website information, such as browser type, device information, pages visited and cookie or analytics data.

How We Use Information

BPF may use information to:

Process registrations and payments and administer BPF fairs, virtual programs, Power Hours, newsletters and related services.

Send confirmations, event reminders, schedule changes, admissions resources, surveys and other requested communications.

Connect families with participating schools and help participating schools prepare for BPF programs.

Respond to questions, provide support and improve BPF programs, outreach and website content.

Maintain accurate records, protect BPF and its participants, prevent misuse and comply with legal obligations.

Information Shared Between Families and Participating Schools

Limited program-related sharing. When a parent or guardian registers for a BPF admissions fair, virtual fair or related program, BPF may share limited registration information with schools registered to participate in that program. This may include the parent or guardian's name, email address, general location or ZIP code, the student's current or entry grade, school interests and the BPF program selected. This information may be used for admissions-related follow-up and program participation.

Information provided to families. BPF may provide registered families with participating schools' names, program information, public websites and school representatives' professional contact information so families can continue their admissions research and follow up after a BPF program.

Limits on school sharing. BPF does not authorize participating schools to sell or redistribute BPF registration information. A participating school's subsequent collection and use of information is governed by that school's own privacy practices.

SMS and Mobile Information

Providing a mobile number does not automatically enroll you in BPF text messages. BPF sends text messages only after an individual provides affirmative SMS consent through an unchecked opt-in box, a text-to-join keyword or another documented opt-in method. Messages may include registration updates, event reminders, admissions resources and BPF program announcements. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe or HELP for assistance. Consent to receive texts is not required to register for a BPF event or make a purchase.

Mobile privacy commitment. BPF does not sell mobile information. Mobile telephone numbers and SMS opt-in data or consent records will not be shared with participating schools, affiliates or other third parties for their marketing or promotional purposes. BPF may provide this information to service providers that support delivery of BPF text messages, subject to confidentiality and use limitations, or when disclosure is required by law.

Other Ways We May Share Information

BPF may disclose information in the following limited circumstances:

Service providers. We use companies that help operate registration forms, email and text communications, websites, payments, virtual meetings, data storage and other necessary services. They may process information only to provide services to BPF or as otherwise permitted by law.

Legal and safety purposes. We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to legal process, protect rights or safety, investigate misuse or enforce applicable terms.

Organizational changes. If BPF undergoes a reorganization, merger or transfer of operations, information may be transferred subject to this Policy and applicable law.

No Sale of Personal Information

BPF does not sell or rent personal information. BPF also does not share personal information with unrelated organizations for their independent marketing. The limited sharing with participating schools described above is connected directly to BPF admissions programs and should be clearly disclosed on the applicable registration form.

Cookies and Website Analytics

Our website and service providers may use cookies or similar technologies to operate the site, remember preferences, understand site usage and improve performance. You may adjust your browser settings to limit cookies, although some website features may not function properly.

Information About Students and Children

BPF registration forms and online services are intended for parents, guardians and other adults. Parents and guardians may provide limited information about a student to support admissions planning and program participation. BPF does not knowingly collect personal information online directly from children under 13 without appropriate parental or guardian involvement.

Data Retention and Security

BPF keeps personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including program administration, communications, recordkeeping and legal or compliance needs. SMS consent and opt-out records may be retained as needed to document messaging preferences. BPF uses reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, but no website, transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.

Your Choices

Email: Use the unsubscribe link in a BPF marketing email.

Text messages: Reply STOP to discontinue BPF texts or HELP for assistance.

School follow-up: Use the choices provided on the applicable registration form or contact BPF before the information is distributed.

Access, correction or deletion: Contact BPF to request access to, correction of or deletion of information associated with you, subject to legal and operational retention requirements.

Cookies: Adjust your browser settings to limit or delete cookies.

Links and Third-Party Services

BPF websites and communications may link to schools, registration providers, payment providers, virtual meeting platforms and other third-party services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this Policy.

Changes to This Policy

BPF may update this Privacy Policy as programs, technology or legal requirements change. The revised version will be posted on the BPF website with a new effective date.
